Keep Going: Trusting God When Life Gets Tough.
I remember the story of Ada, a single mother of two who sold akara (bean cakes) by the roadside in my neighborhood. Every morning, rain or shine, she was out there frying and selling, with her two small children playing beside her. One day, I stopped to buy some akara, and I noticed she looked tired but still had the brightest smile. I asked her how she managed to stay so positive despite the struggle. She simply said, "God no go shame me. I know say better days dey come."
Ada’s faith and resilience struck me deeply. Her life wasn’t easy, but she believed that God was working things out for her, even in the hard times.
Life Isn’t Always Easy
Life can throw you curveballs—whether it’s money wahala, health challenges, or just the daily grind of trying to make ends meet. Sometimes it feels like the more you try, the harder it gets. But here’s the thing: tough times don’t last, but tough people do. And what makes you tough isn’t just your strength but your faith in God.
Isaiah 41:10 says, “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” God knows what you’re going through, and He’s got your back.
Why You Should Keep Going
God Is Still Working
Just because you don’t see the answer now doesn’t mean God isn’t moving behind the scenes. Think of planting seeds—it takes time for them to grow, but eventually, you’ll see the fruits of your labor. Galatians 6:9 says, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”
Every Challenge Has a Purpose
Sometimes, the hardest seasons of your life prepare you for the best seasons ahead. That struggle might be teaching you patience, strength, or even pushing you closer to God. Remember Romans 8:28: “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him.”
Your Story Can Inspire Others
Just like Ada inspired me, your story of perseverance can encourage someone else to keep trusting God. You might not realize it, but people are watching how you handle your challenges, and your faith can make a difference in their lives.
Trusting God Like Ada
A few months after our conversation, Ada told me her akara business had grown. She had started supplying small shops in the area, and her kids were doing well in school. She said, “I no give up because I know say God dey my side. E no easy, but God dey faithful.”
Her story is proof that no matter how hard things get, God is always working. It might not happen overnight, but if you keep trusting Him, He’ll show up for you.
Conclusion: Don’t Give Up
So, my dear, no matter what you’re going through right now, keep going. Trust God with all your heart, even when things don’t make sense. Remember Ada’s words: "God no go shame me." He won’t shame you either.
Prayer:
“Father, thank You for being with me in every season of life. Help me to trust You, even when things are tough. Give me the strength to keep going and the faith to believe that better days are ahead. Thank You for working everything out for my good. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
