Cultivating a Heart of Gratitude Every Day
Gratitude is more than good manners. In Scripture, thanksgiving is treated as a spiritual discipline, something we practice on purpose, especially when we don\'t feel like it. Over the years, I\'ve found that a grateful heart changes how I see everything else.
Why gratitude matters
When we focus only on what\'s missing, our hearts grow heavy and restless. Gratitude gently turns our eyes toward what God has already done, and that shift alone can lift a weary spirit.
Simple ways to practice it
- Write down three things you\'re thankful for each morning or night.
- Thank someone out loud today, in person or by message.
- Turn complaints into prayers by naming what you\'re grateful for in the same situation.
- Keep a \"testimony list\" of answered prayers to revisit on hard days.
Gratitude in the hard seasons
Being thankful doesn\'t mean pretending everything is fine. It means choosing to notice God\'s faithfulness even when circumstances are difficult. Often, the smallest mercies become the brightest ones in the dark.
Start small today. One thankful thought can open the door to a lighter heart.
